Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for and capable of:

  • Developing curriculum in support of an individual teaching assignment and/or program needs.
  • Teaching and evaluating student progress in the program as assigned.
  • Providing individual help to students requiring special assistance.


Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Health Information Management program, Baccalaureate degree, preferred.
  • Active CHIMA member in good standing.Experience in a leadership/management/supervisory roles in a tertiary acute care facility.
  • Experience in coding/abstracting with both DAD and NACRS. Adult teaching or training experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of ICD-10/CCI classification, CIHI Coding and Abstracting Standards (NACRS, DAD, NRS, CCRS, OMHRS).
  • Familiar with MIS Functional Centres processes for CMG/RIW/HIG grouping/ assignment and the respective implication on resource utilization and hospital finances.
  • Knowledge of  MOHLTC reporting guidelines and activity based funding structures for Ontario (HSFR).
  • Working knowledge of MED2020 WinRecs and 3M Codefinder.
